Beer Pong is a widely played game with many variations. Here are the official rules we'll be using for the 2024 Blaise Games:
Beer Pong will be played in teams of 2 in a single elimination tournament.
1. **Setup:**
- Six cups will be positioned in a pyramid formation at each end of the table.
- Two balls will be active for each contest.
- Cups will be filled halfway to the first line with water.
2. **Starting the Game:**
- A coin toss determines which team goes first.
3. **Gameplay:**
- Throws will alternate by team. Both players from one team throw, followed by the other team.
- If a cup is hit, the cup is removed.
- If both players from the same team hit their cups, they get to throw again until they miss.
- Leaning is permitted.
- Bouncing is NOT PERMITTED. A ball that hits the table then into a cup, WILL COUNT AS A MISS and also as an "Air Ball"
- If the throwing team throws two consecutive air balls (not making contact with any cup IN THE AIR), they must remove one of their remaining cups. The throwing team chooses which cup to remove. This rule is waived when either team has only one cup remaining.
- No blowing or defensive interference is allowed.
- If a cup is spilled or knocked over, it counts as a hit.
- When there are only three cups remaining, they should be realigned into a pyramid formation closest to the opposing team (Top of the Triangle). This takes place IMMEDIATELY, even if it is between a team's throws.
4. **Winning the Game:**
- A team wins by sinking all of the opponent’s cups.
- The opposing team gets a chance to answer with two throws at the conclusion of the game unless the winning team hit successive shots in the same turn. The team shooting redemption has 2 balls to hit the remaining cups. If there are 2 or more cups remaining, the game is over upon 1 miss.
- If the team seeking redemption sinks all of the other team’s cups, the game goes into overtime.
5. **Overtime:**
- Overtime consists of a three-cup pyramid setup closest to the opposing team (Top of the Triangle). All original rules apply, except redemption, Overtime is SUDDEN DEATH, the 1st team to make the last cup wins. The team that hit the last cup 1st will go 1st in overtime.
